Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to Transcribe ("we," "our," or "us"), an app by ToneSeed. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Transcribe mobile application (the "App") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Transcribe helps you write down solos from recordings: you loop and slow down the music, write the notes, and check them by ear.

2. Information We Collect

Transcribe has no accounts. You never give us your name, email address, or password to use the App. We collect the following:

• Scores and settings - the scores you write, bar lines you tap, bars you mark as checked, and your preferences. These are stored on your device only.
• Recordings - audio files you choose and recordings you make in the App are copied into the App's storage on your device. They are never uploaded to us.
• Microphone - used only while you record, after you allow it.
• Song links - links you paste are used to play the song (see section 3). We do not keep a list of them outside your device.
• Purchase and entitlement information - whether you have Transcribe Plus. Payments are processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat using an anonymous identifier; we never receive your payment details.
• Usage analytics - events about how the App is used, such as scores created, notes written, loops played, drafts and checks run, and paywall views. These are tied to an anonymous app instance identifier generated by Firebase Analytics, not to you personally. We do not collect the advertising identifier (IDFA).
• Device and diagnostic data - technical information such as app version, operating system, device model and crash information collected by Firebase Crashlytics, used to keep the App stable.
• Support communications - your email address and message if you contact us.

3. Listening, Playback and Song Links

• AI draft and automatic check run on your device. The App analyses your recording with an on-device model (Basic Pitch on Core ML); the audio and the notes it hears never leave your device.
• YouTube links play in YouTube's embedded player, which connects to YouTube under Google's privacy policy.
• Apple Music links play through Apple Music on your device after you allow access. Apple handles your subscription and playback.
• Spotify links - Spotify does not let other apps play its audio, so the App reads the song's public Spotify page for its title and artist and looks the song up in Apple's public music catalogue to offer the Apple Music version. Only the song title and artist are sent to Apple for this search.

4. How We Use Information

• Provide the App and keep your scores and recordings on your device
• Play and analyse the music you are writing down
• Check whether you have access to Plus and restore purchases
• Understand which features help musicians so we can improve them
• Fix crashes and performance problems
• Answer your support requests

5. Sharing

We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising. We share limited data only with service providers that run parts of the App for us:

• Google Firebase Analytics - anonymous usage analytics
• Google Firebase Crashlytics - crash reports
• RevenueCat - purchase and subscription status
• Apple - payments through the App Store, Apple Music playback and catalogue search
• Google (YouTube) - playback of YouTube links you paste

Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy and only for the purpose above.

6. Tracking

Transcribe does not track you across other companies' apps or websites and does not show ads.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Your scores and recordings live on your device. Deleting a score in the App deletes it; deleting the App deletes everything. Anonymous analytics are kept for up to 14 months and crash reports for 90 days, then deleted by Firebase. To ask us about any data related to you, contact support@toneseed.app.

8. Children

The App is suitable for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data and to object to processing. Because the App does not identify you, most requests can be met by deleting the App. For anything else, contact support@toneseed.app.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. We will change the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the App.
